Everything you need to get started with Pipefast — connect your tools and chat with them using AI

Getting Started
Connect your first tool, start chatting, and explore Pipefast features

How to Connect Your First Tool

  1. Sign up at app.pipefast.io/signup and verify your email
  2. Once logged in, go to Tools in the sidebar
  3. Click "Connect a Tool" and search for the app you want (e.g., Shopify, Stripe, Slack)
  4. Click the app and follow the OAuth authorization flow
  5. Once connected, the tool appears in your sidebar under Active Tools

The Free plan includes 2 connected tools. Pro gives you unlimited tool connections.

How to Chat with Your Tools

Open Chat from the sidebar and type a question in plain English. For example:

  • "Show me my Shopify orders from last week"
  • "List my open Stripe invoices"
  • "What Slack messages mention the product launch?"

Pipefast's AI determines which connected tool to call, fetches the data, and returns the answer directly in the conversation. Responses stream word-by-word in real time.

Is There an Onboarding Guide?

Yes. When you first sign up, Pipefast shows an onboarding guide that walks you through connecting your first tool, sending your first message, and exploring key features like Agents, Automations, and the Dashboard. You can revisit the guide at any time from the Help menu.

What Can I Do Beyond Basic Chat?

Pipefast is much more than a chat interface. You can:

  • Create AI Agents with specialized roles (Marketing, Sales, Finance, etc.)
  • Schedule recurring Automations via natural language
  • Pin live metric tiles to a Dashboard
  • Run JavaScript and render inline Charts via the Scratchpad
  • Store business rules and preferences in Memory
Chat
Streaming, file uploads, cross-tool queries, scratchpad, charts, and export

Streaming Responses

Pipefast streams responses word-by-word in real time as the AI generates them — just like a live conversation. You do not need to wait for the full answer before reading it. Streaming works for both regular answers and tool call results.

File and Image Uploads

Attach files and images directly to any chat message. The AI can read and analyze uploaded documents (PDF, CSV, spreadsheets) and images. Use this to compare uploaded data against your connected tools, or ask questions about a screenshot or report.

Cross-Tool Queries

Pipefast can combine data from multiple connected tools in a single message. For example:

  • "Compare my Shopify revenue with my Stripe payouts for last month"
  • "Find Slack messages about the customer who has this open Zendesk ticket"
  • "Create a Google Sheet with my top 10 HubSpot deals"

The AI calls all relevant tools and synthesizes the results into one coherent answer.

Scratchpad & Inline Charts

The Scratchpad lets the AI run JavaScript to compute metrics and generate inline charts — all inside the chat window. Ask "Chart my MRR growth for the last 6 months as a bar chart" and Pipefast will pull the data, run the calculation, and render the chart directly in the conversation. Supported chart types: bar, line, and pie.

Exporting Conversations

In any chat thread, click the export button to download the conversation as HTML or Markdown. HTML preserves the full visual formatting. Markdown is useful for pasting into documents, Notion, or any editor.

Agents
Premade templates, custom agents, and focused AI chat threads

What Is an Agent?

An Agent is a focused chat thread with a specialized system prompt that gives the AI a specific role and context. Instead of a generic AI, you chat with a Marketing Agent, a Finance Agent, or any custom persona you define. Each Agent maintains its own conversation history.

Premade Agent Templates

Pipefast ships with 5 ready-to-use templates:

  • Marketing Agent — campaign performance, ad spend, audience analytics
  • Sales Agent — pipeline, deals, forecasting, CRM queries
  • Support Agent — tickets, customer issues, resolution tracking
  • Finance Agent — revenue, invoices, expenses, reconciliation
  • Operations Agent — inventory, fulfillment, logistics

Each template comes pre-configured with the right context for its domain — just connect the relevant tools and start chatting.

Creating a Custom Agent

Go to Agents and click "New Agent." Give it a name and write your own system prompt. For example: "You are a growth analyst focused on conversion rates and retention. Always cite data before making recommendations." The agent uses your prompt as its persistent context for every message in that thread.

Agent Chat vs Regular Chat

Regular Chat is a general-purpose conversation thread. Agents have a persistent system prompt that shapes the AI's behavior, terminology, and focus area. This means you get more relevant, on-topic answers without having to repeat context every time you open a new conversation.

Automations
Schedule tasks via chat, webhook triggers, email reports, and run history

Creating an Automation via Chat

Type a natural language instruction in chat to create an automation. Examples:

  • "Email me every Monday morning with last week's Stripe revenue"
  • "Ping me on Slack whenever a new Shopify order comes in"
  • "Send me a daily summary of open support tickets at 9am"

Pipefast interprets the instruction and sets up the automation automatically — no configuration required.

Scheduling Options

Automations support cron-based scheduling — daily, weekly, monthly, or any custom interval you describe in plain English. Pipefast converts your natural language description into the appropriate schedule.

Webhook Triggers

Every automation gets a unique webhook URL. When another system sends an HTTP POST to that URL, the automation runs immediately. This lets you trigger Pipefast automations from external tools, Zapier, or your own code — no polling required.

Automation Email Reports

Automation results are emailed to the address associated with your Pipefast account after each run. Each email summarizes what the AI did, which tools it called, and the data it found.

Managing Automations

Go to the Automations page from the sidebar. From there you can:

  • Pause or resume any automation
  • View the full run history for each automation
  • Delete automations you no longer need
Dashboard
Pinnable metric widgets, auto-refreshing tiles, and custom data views

What Is the Dashboard?

The Dashboard is a live metrics view where you pin widgets that auto-refresh with real-time data from your connected tools. Think of it as a command center built from natural language queries — no chart configuration needed.

Adding a Widget

Click "Add Widget" on the Dashboard, then describe the metric you want to track. For example:

  • "Today's Shopify revenue"
  • "Open support tickets in Zendesk"
  • "New signups this week from HubSpot"

Pipefast creates the widget, runs the query against your connected tools, and displays the result as a live tile.

Auto-Refresh

Dashboard widgets auto-refresh at regular intervals so data stays current without you having to reload the page. You can also manually refresh any widget by clicking the refresh icon on the tile.

Managing Widgets

Widgets can be reordered by dragging and dropping on the Dashboard. Delete any widget you no longer want by clicking the remove button on the tile.

Memory
How AI memory works, rule types, managing memories, and conversation recall

How Memory Works

Pipefast's Memory system lets the AI remember facts, rules, and preferences about your business across all conversations. Once something is stored in Memory, you never need to repeat it — the AI applies it automatically to every future response.

Memory is available on the Pro plan and above.

Memory Types

Memories are organized into four categories:

  • Rules (green) — "Always" instructions the AI must follow (e.g., "Always respond in bullet points")
  • Constraints (red) — "Never" restrictions (e.g., "Never share customer PII in responses")
  • Preferences (blue) — Stylistic or behavioral settings (e.g., "Prefer revenue in USD")
  • Facts (gray) — Business context like company name, team structure, or key metrics

Managing Your Memories

Go to the Memory page from the sidebar. From there you can view all stored memories, search and filter by type, edit individual entries, delete specific memories, or clear all memories at once.

Conversation Recall

Conversation Recall lets the AI search your past chat history to bring relevant context into the current conversation. For example, asking "What did we decide about the pricing change last month?" will retrieve that past conversation and include the relevant details in the response.

Tools & Connections
1,800+ apps, OAuth, dynamic actions, and disconnecting

Supported Apps (1,800+)

Pipefast supports over 1,800 apps through Pipedream's integration platform. This includes popular tools like:

  • Shopify, Stripe, WooCommerce, PayPal
  • Slack, Gmail, Google Sheets, Notion
  • HubSpot, Salesforce, Intercom, Zendesk
  • QuickBooks, Xero, Airtable, Jira
  • And 1,700+ more

Browse the full list at pipefast.io/connectors.

How OAuth Connections Work

When you connect a tool, you are redirected to that app's login page (e.g., Google, Shopify, Stripe) to authorize Pipefast. We use Pipedream's secure OAuth infrastructure — Pipefast never sees or stores your passwords or raw OAuth tokens. The connection is managed securely by Pipedream with SOC 2 Type II compliance.

Dynamic Action Discovery

Each connected app exposes thousands of possible actions. Pipefast dynamically discovers which actions are available for your connected tools (over 10,000 actions in total) so the AI can take any supported action — not just a fixed set of pre-built commands. One click to connect; Pipefast handles the rest.

How to Disconnect a Tool

Go to the Tools page, find the connected tool, and click the disconnect button. This revokes the OAuth connection, removes the tool from your active list, and cleans up the associated Pipedream account record. You can reconnect it at any time.

Troubleshooting Connection Issues

If a connection fails, try these steps:

  1. Disconnect and reconnect the tool
  2. Make sure you have the right permissions in the third-party app
  3. Check if the app requires specific scopes or admin access
  4. Clear your browser cookies and try again

If the issue persists, contact us at support@pipefast.io.

Privacy & Security
Data handling, SOC 2, OAuth token security, and error monitoring

How Your Data Is Handled

Pipefast processes your queries in real time and does not permanently store the raw data returned from your connected tools. Chat conversation history is stored securely in our database so you can reference past conversations. We never sell or share your data with third parties.

Pipedream's SOC 2 Compliance

Pipedream, which powers our integration layer, is SOC 2 Type II compliant. This means their infrastructure, security controls, and data handling practices are independently audited. All OAuth connections and API calls flow through Pipedream's secure, compliant infrastructure.

We Never See Your OAuth Tokens

Your OAuth tokens are managed entirely by Pipedream's secure infrastructure. Pipefast never sees, stores, or has access to your raw OAuth tokens. When we need to call a connected tool, we use Pipedream's API, which handles authentication securely on your behalf.

Error Monitoring

Pipefast has an automatic error capture system that logs unexpected errors and alerts our team immediately. Most issues are identified and investigated before you even need to report them. If you do encounter a problem, contact us at support@pipefast.io.
